Who I Am

Hello, and welcome to my portfolio website. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Khurram Bajwa. I studied graphic design at Parsons New School for Design in New York, from where I graduated in 2009. Prior to attending Parsons I had previously studied Neuroscience at Boston University where I earned degrees in both Biology and Modern Middle Eastern History in 2004.

My time in New York gave me experience working freelance as well as in-house in the corporate world. In 2010 I decided to pack up and move to Chicago where I co-founded Piktograf Design Studio in the Creative Industry District of the Pilsen neighborhood. During my time with Piktograf I have worked as senior graphic designer, project manager, and client liaison, giving me extensive experience dealing with all elements of agency life. My working experience has seen me work with all types of companies, from small businesses, to bands, to tech startups, to large health care institutions to fortune-100 corporations.

My background includes work in branding/identity, illustration, poster design, book design and web design. My personal aesthetic draws heavily upon elements of graphic illustration, comic book art, street art, science-fiction and futurism, though these influences do not exclusively define me. When starting any project my design philosophy is to always be concept-driven, a practice that forces me to dive into the subject matter of whatever it is that I'm working on and is honestly one of my favorite parts of the job.

When I'm not working I enjoy film & animation, making music, reading and traveling.
