  • Project Info: This piece was designed as an event poster and t-shirt for the Cornell University Bhangra Team's annual collegiate dance competition, 'Pao Bhangra'. The theme for the event was the "Bhangra Olympics," and so my design focused on presenting the Olympic rings as a backdrop for three dancing figures. The look and feel for the rings was meant to convey a sense of digital abstraction, with the rings themselves bursting into pixels as the individual figures engaged in their high-energy dance routines in the foreground. The dance style known as 'Bhangra' is native to the Indian subcontinent and is characterized by intense movements by dancers adorned in very colorful costumes. As such, the design was meant to capture this in its use of color, composition and typography, with the design leaping off of the page to demand the viewer's attention.
